We have built 8 custom homes that we named after our family members as we take pride in our family and our work. Two of those homes I received award recognitions, one from House Beautiful Magazine, which our home was featured in the House Beautiful-Houses & Plans addition. The second was from the Cannon Beach Gazette news paper an article written called “The House” in Cannon Beach, Oregon. These homes ranged from 1490 square feet to 3500 square feet. Each home was designed around unusual size and shaped lots we had. Custom home building can be challenging and expensive with lots of obstacles to get through including working with the Land Use Department for environmental issues, city and county restrictions, setbacks, parking, nearest neighbors and then utilities to name a few. I feel that the system in place that governs new home construction has gotten expensive and to restrictive. Unless you buy a lot or home in a subdivision you are likely to have many unexpected costs and issues that will come up.
